My favorite Festival- Diwali
India is a land of many festivals. Diwali is one of them. It is the most important festival of the Hindus. It is a festival of lights. It is celebrated in the month of October or November, 20 days after Dussehra festival. At first it was celebrated in Ayodhya in the honour of Lord Rama., when returned to Ayodhya. After 14 years of exile. From then it is celebrated in every part of the country.
Some days before Diwali people whitewash their houses and shops and decorate them. There is a great rush in the market. People buy several items like utensils, sweets and decorative items. Children buy crackers, toys and sweets.
On the Diwali day people light electric bulbs, candles and earthen lamps at night. They worship Goddess Laxmi (the goddess of wealth). They greet ‘Happy Diwali’ to each other. Sweets distributed among friends and relatives. Children play with crackers. Diwali is a festival of Joy and Happiness
